SaunaMed Infrared cabins with colour light therapy

How can colour therapy complement the health benefits of an Infrared Sauna?

Is colour therapy a new concept?

The use of colour for healing purposes can be traced back to ancient Egyptians, Romans and Greeks who all recognised the potential healing powers of light from the sun.  Temples and sun filled rooms were built to harness this light.

The visible light spectrum is seen in the Chakra system, representing energy centres within the body.  Each chakra is related to a colour of the light spectrum, linking the lowest part of the body to the low colour frequency red, up to the crown chakra with the highest frequency colour violet.

What is the visible light spectrum?

As illustrated in the diagram below, the electromagnetic spectrum consists of Microwave, Radio Waves, Gamma Rays, X-Rays, UV Rays, Visible Light and Infrared.

Sir Isaac Newton invented the first colour wheel from his study of light refraction in prisms.  He observed that the clear white light reflected a spectrum of colours, showing that it is composed of 7 colours.

How does chromotherapy work?

Chromotherapy or colour therapy works from the visible light spectrum.  Each colour within the visible light spectrum vibrates at a different frequency with shorter or longer wavelengths. The vibrations of these wavelengths create a physical and sensory reaction in the mind and body.

Chromotherapy benefits

Colour light therapy has been reported to reduce inflammation, relieve pain and has been used to treat Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD).  Each colour can govern the way we feel, causing a mental and physical reaction.  Choose a colour that meets your mental, emotional, or physical needs.
